Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

This is the home of Miss Roberts, Mrs Myler, Mrs Hill and Miss Unsworth.

We are really looking forward to welcoming you back into school and the Year 4 classroom. We have really missed you in school and can’t wait to be back in the classroom, having fun and learning. The classroom is all ready for you to fill with lots of work and laughter.

Things may be a little different at the start but we will settle into a routine that will help us with our day.

All homework will be set online except your reading and reading journals. Reading is an important part of learning as well as journaling which will develop their comprehension skills. Please record your child's reading in their reading journals as they can receive reading ninja certificates every 25 times they read. The more your child reads the more they will become confident in all aspects of learning. We want to instil a love of reading and enjoy our home reading books as well as our class texts.

For homework, I will place spellings on Seesaw on a Monday to be tested on a Friday. I will also put details of your weekly homework on seesaw on a Monday to explain the expectations for the week ahead.

Times Tables

We will be working hard on our times tables this year and completing Times Table Rock Stars at home will be an important part of their homework. The children will need to know all their tables from the 2 x table up to 12 x tables confidently.

They are expected to use TT Rockstars for this which is a fantastic, fun tool which allows them to practise the TT and progresses them as the master different multiplication facts. Times Tables will be tested on Friday through our Times Table Challenge.

This term, we will be having PE on a Thursday. To start with, the children will need to come into school in their PE kit for that day. They do not need to bring anything else to get changed into and will stay in their kit throughout the day until further notice.

Please continue to check in on the class blog and other pages for more details of what we are getting up to in class. For regular updates on what we're getting up to in Year 4, make sure you're also following our Twitter page @crontony4.  I will be using our Twitter page to share pictures and videos of lessons and to celebrate children's work and achievements.  If your child does anything outside of school to extend their learning, please feel free to share it with us via Twitter - just make sure you tag us (@crontony4) in the tweet!

 Kind regards,

Miss Roberts.
