Homework

Homework expectations in Year 1

Homework will be posted to Seesaw on a Friday and should be completed on Seesaw by Wednesday where it will be marked. If you have any issues with accessing Seesaw or need another login, then please get in touch with the school.

Spellings will be posted on Seesaw/School Website on a Monday. The spelling test will take place on a Friday. Please make sure to send in your child’s Home-School book every day, we will be recording spelling scores in them by Monday.

Reading record books will need to be handed in each Monday and Thursday and we will change the books on these days only.

We would expect the children to read at least 5 times a week.

Please feel free to record how your child did on the homework; whether they needed help or not, as this will help me.

If children do not complete their homework or return it at least the day after it was due, your child may be asked to complete the work in school.

Holidays

During the holidays no formal homework will be set although children will still be encouraged to read with an adult regularly.

At Cronton CE Primary School we are very keen for parents to support and help their children with homework. We take the view that children are likely to get more out of an activity if parents get involved as long as they do not take over too much.

However, there are times when we will want to see what children can do on their own. It is particularly important, as they get older, for children to become increasingly independent in their learning. If a parent is unsure about what their role should be, they should discuss it with their child's teacher.

As teachers are in class teaching, we may not be able to respond on Seesaw everyday but we will try our very best to respond weekly. If you have an urgent query, it is best that you contact the school office.

It is not possible to give homework when parents take holidays in term time.

Parents/Carers who have queries about homework should not hesitate to contact their child’s class teacher by telephone.
