Talking about the properties of shapes and then making them with lolly sticks.

A shape hunt outside and drawing our own.

Mark making outside at Maths Time - copying and making our own patterns.

Waving Y5 and Mrs. Wilson off on their residential to Llandudno.

Some of the children have been role-playing beauty treatments in the home corner recently, so we have opened our own salon.

Fruit tasting inspired by Handa’s Surprise during our Reading Week / World Book Day

Another busy week! The Three Little Pigs, shape hunting and PE.

A busy first week back after Christmas. We have started our Traditional Tales topic and our shape topic. This week we started with Jack and the Beanstalk and Circles. Next week, watch out for The Gingerbread Man and Triangles.

What a lovely week we have had. Merry Christmas everybody!

Mrs. Myler brought us a surprise today. Can you see who it is?

We are so lucky to have our own nursery Grandma. Mrs. Walker has been coming into nursery every week since her own grand-daughter came here ten years ago! The children love her as much as we do.

We have been learning about number 4 this week.

Phase 1 Phonics - instrumental sounds. The children loved playing the instruments and then listening to mine behind the screen and guessing which one it was. Good listening skills Nursery!

The children have enjoyed exploring the leaves and conkers and talking about the autumn changes around us.

This week we have been talking about what we can do now that we are not babies anymore. We have been trying to do our jumpers independently. The children are so proud of themselves when they can do it.

This week the children have enjoyed developing their mouse control whilst playing our colour matching Thomas game.

We had a great time on our Elmer walk this week. We could see and hear lots of different things around the school grounds.

We had fun exploring the outdoor classroom and planting our bulbs for our Flourish and Thrive / Elmer's Day.

We made cut-outs of ourselves, thinking about our hair and eyes and how to draw faces.

Someone had fun exploring the paint this week!

Another busy week in Nursery. This week we have been talking about Harvest. We have been watching ‘Come Outside’ with auntie Mabel and learned about how our food gets from the farm to our tables at home. We have talked about how hard our farmers work and how lucky we are and how we say thank you to them and God at Harvest time. We have been sorting and matching fruits and vegetables and talking about our favourites. We have enjoyed using the blocks to build our own farms for the animals.

The rain didn't stop us having fun.

Today we have been celebrating the international day of languages.  The children have joined in by dressing in the colours of the Spanish flag with some children wearing flamenco dresses.  We have enjoyed making our own Spanish flags, practised saying hola and audios and even managed to get a little bit of Spanish dancing in which the children really enjoyed.

The children have been investigating and learning about colours this week.  They have enjoyed a colour sorting activity, searched for specific colours around nursery and used magnifying glasses outside to find their favourite colours.  Of course we can’t learn about colours without our favourite Elmer stories which we have listened to each day.  The children may be able to tell you about one of these stories themselves.

A poem about learning through play.
