Halle Orchestra Trip

We had a brilliant trip to the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on Thursday to perform with the Halle Orchestra.

Crown Competition Winner.

Congratulations to Queen Olivia, winner of the crown competition. We have to call her Queen for the whole day and either courtesy or bow in her presence.

Jubilee Party
Today we're all celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee by having a party day.

Jubilee Party

We have had a fantastic day today playing Quidditch. The children were sorted into house teams, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin and they all played amazingly well.

Well done to Robyn who was the only Seeker to catch the golden snitch (Mrs Mansfield) for her team, Ravenclaw.

Congratulations has to go to Slytherin though, for winning the Quidditch cup.

Well done everybody who took part, you were all fantastic and I was very proud of all the teamwork you displayed.

R.E The story of Peter betraying Jesus.

Today in R.E we discussed the story of Peter denying Jesus and how Jesus forgave him. We focused on how Peter must have felt betraying his friend and wrote a diary entry from his perspective. The class also wrote questions they would like to ask him and some children were in the hot seat, answering these questions as if they were Peter. Here are their responses.

Year four have been working very hard in their violin lessons each week. Here's a little peek at what they've been working on.

The Wheel Winners!

Well done to our Wheel winners. Four members of our class collected lots of teams points last week and were picked to spin the wheel. Prizes were sitting in the teacher's chair, sitting next to a friend for the day, having a dance party and taking their shoes off in class. Remember Year 4, you can all collect team points for lots of things like, doing great work, having beautiful manners or helping out others. Points win prizes! Keep up the fantastic work.

The Wheel Winners

Accelerated Reading

Well done on quizzing fifteen times on accelerated reading and getting 100%

Keep up the good work, year 4.

World Book Day

It’s world book day! To celebrate, we had the choice of coming into school as our favourite character or dressing in the colours of an African flag. We have even brought in our favourite books for drop everything and read.

Congratulations Year 4 readers

Well done to the members of our class who have managed to achieve 100% fifteen times, in their accelerated reading quizzes. For every fifteen books they get 100% on, they get to choose their very own book to take home and keep.

Weeks ending the 10th and 17th of December

What a fantastic end to this term! In science we have been looking at states of matter and the children worked together to model the particle arrangement in solids, liquids and gases.

In our violin lessons we finished the term with some Christmas songs.

In PE we have continued with our dance lessons and linked it with our work in RE looking at light and dark.

In RE we made some beautiful Christingles and took them down to our outdoor classroom to say a prayer together.

We really enjoyed our Christmas party and there are definitely some dance superstars in Year 4!

We had a great time making our Christmas cards and elf baubles.

As part of our final worship we all sang our traditional Christmas song - the Twelve Days of Christmas. I think we were all exhausted by the end!

A big congratulations to our 100% attendance winners, showing off their bronze awards from this term. We also voted for our class members who have shown our Christian value of friendship this half term - well done to our two winners!

Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Merry Christmas!

In RE we used our ponder pebbles to help us to pray.

We really enjoyed our Christmas jumper and film afternoon watching Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, with our cupcakes and marshmallows as a reward for winning the attendance last half term. Well done Year 4!

Over the last 2 weeks, Year 4 have made excellent progress with their violin playing and have been really enjoying their lessons.

In PE we have continued with our dance lessons. We compared two different types of dance - Greek dancing which we looked at as part of our geography topic on the Mediterranean and dance as an expression of worship in which Year 4 worked hard to develop their own dance sequences with a partner.

In science we have been looking at classification and thinking about how living things can be sorted into different groups.

We have also completed our poetry unit and the children have written some amazing poems about what they would put in their magic box. A big shout out to two of the children who received a Head Teacher’s Award for their exceptional poems.

Year 4 had a great time planting their daffodil bulbs for our Thrive & Flourish Day.

A big well done to our Star Badge winners from the past two weeks, including the whole class for representing Cronton beautifully on their first week of swimming lessons.
