Year 2

Welcome to Year Two with Mrs. King and Mrs. Buckley.

Homework

Homework (English and/or Maths) will be put Seesaw on a Friday, to be done by the following Friday.

Spellings are sent home in your child’s individual spelling book, where you will also be able to see how they got on with their last spelling test. The week’s spelling list will be sent home on a Monday, for the test on a Friday.

Reading – reading can be fun but is also an important part of learning Please record your child's reading in their reading records as they can receive reading ninja certificates every 25 times they read. The more your child reads the more they will become confident in all aspects of learning. We want to instil a love of reading and if your child would like to read a book of their own that is great and it can be recorded in their book. However, it is also important that they read their school reading book too. Books are changed twice a week. Pease use the bookmarks the children have which give ideas for questions you can ask them for comprehension skills.

 Times Tables

In Year Two we work on our 2, 5 and 10 times tables. After Christmas we start to do a times tables test on a Friday. The more your child practises their tables, the more fluent and confident they will become in maths lessons.

PE
This term, we will be having PE on a Monday. To start with, the children will need to come into school in their PE kit for that day. They do not need to bring anything else to get changed into and will stay in their kit throughout the day until further notice.

Please continue to check in on the class blog and other pages for more details of what we are getting up to in class. For regular updates on what we're getting up to in Year 2, make sure you're also following our Twitter page @crontony2.  I will be using our Twitter page to share pictures and videos of lessons and to celebrate children's work and achievements.  If your child does anything outside of school to extend their learning, please feel free to share it with us via Twitter - just make sure you tag us (@crontony2) in the tweet!

 Kind regards,

Mrs. King
