Homework

Y2 Homework expectations

Homework in Year 2 consists of a written piece of English and/or maths, reading, spellings and mental arithmetic.

  • We would expect the children to read 3-4 times a week.  Five times if possible would be fantastic, though we understand that sometimes this is not possible.
  • Reading books can be changed on Mondays and Thursdays.
  • To begin with, in Autumn Term, the children will receive either a piece of maths or a piece of English work on a Friday afternoon.  After Christmas, this will be a piece of both Maths and English. This will be put on SeeSaw and should be completed by the following Friday. Please feel free to make a comment about how you felt they coped with the work and what help, if any, you had to give.  Your child should be able to do the work I send home as it is practising what we have done in class.
  • Spellings will be put on the website and SeeSaw on a Monday and we will have our spelling test on Friday.  We will always try our best to send home a slip with their score.  Please could you continue to work on any spellings your child spelt incorrectly in the test?  Thank you.
