22 children from Year 5 and 6 took part in the Knowsley indoor athletics competition. They won the competition and qualified for the Merseyside finals! An amazing achievement. We won plenty of races and excelled in the field events.
It was a joy to see so many children participating in sport and it was contested in a fantastic manner. All 22 children represented the school superbly.

On Wednesday 20 children from Years 5 & 6 went to the Merseyside Athletics finals at Wavertree. They were representing Knowsley against the 15 champions and runners up from all other districts. The standard was extremely high and we were up against much larger schools than Cronton. The children did not let this phase them and they performed with 100% effort and determination from the first event to the last. They jumped, threw, and ran their way to a very credible 11th place. This is a fantastic achievement and as a school we are very proud of them.

2019-20

On Monday the year 5/6 indoor athletics team went to the Knowsley Indoor athletics finals. We took on the field events first with pupils demonstrating their jumping and throwing skills superbly. Our boys long jump team won the event jumping a combined 3.86m, and girls speed bounce duo smashed the competition with a combined score of 97 bounces in only 40 seconds. Well done the 4 children who took part in these events, they are the best in Knowsley at the respective events. We also had the girls chest push pair come 2nd with their throwing. Which was followed by 3rd in the boys chest push and girls standing long jump. A big well done to the pupils who took part in the field events, it set us up well for the second part of the competition on the track. The track events consisted of different relay races, all the children ran admirably against some really tough competition. The girls 2X2 pair managed to complete the race in the fastest time achieving first place.  As the results were read out in reverse order it was an anxious wait as numerous schools before us had their names read out. Eventually Cronton CE was called in 5th place, which is a remarkable achievement considering the number and the size of some of the schools we competed against. Well done to the whole team and thank you to children who stepped in for others who were absent and for the team coming to the morning training. Mr Noblett.
