  • Drainage Work

    Mon 29 Jun 2020

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Starting on Wednesday 1st July the school will be undergoing some repair work to some of the drains. The work will begin in the Reception and Nursery play area. This means that our current one-way system for entering the school grounds and dropping off the children will be unable to operate. With this in mind we have had to put in place some temporary changes to the current system. All drop off and pick up times remain the same.

Nursery:  Come in from the main front entrance (not the Nursery gates) as normal. Turn right across the front of school (in front of Year Two and Year One) and turn into the undercover area by the nearest shutter. Drop off your child as normal and exit via the other marked Nursery shutter.

Reception: Come in from the main front entrance (not the Nursery gates) as normal. Turn right across the front of school (in front of Year Two and Year One) and turn into the undercover area by the nearest shutter and go to Reception door. Drop off your child as normal and exit via the other marked Nursery shutter.

Year One Pods: Continue to drop off and pick up your child in the same way.

Key Worker Provision in the hall and Year Four classroom (Year 2,3,4 & 5 children): Come in through the usual gate and follow the path. Drop off your child at the main gates to playground where a member of staff will be there to receive the children. Exit through the car park. The same routine will be used at home time, when a member of staff will bring the children in the pods to the main playground gate and dismiss them back into your care.

Year Six Pods in Year Six and Year Five classrooms: Come in through the usual gate and follow the path. Drop off your child at the main gates to playground where a member of staff will be there to receive the children. Exit through the car park. The same routine will be used at home time, when a member of staff will bring the children in the pods to the main playground gate and dismiss them back into your care.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but unfortunately the date of the work is out of our control. We will keep you updated with any further changes or when the work is completed and we can return to the original routines. Thank you for your understanding.

    Yours sincerely,

    Mrs S Thomson

  • Calling all budding playwrights

    Thu 25 Jun 2020

Good morning. We wanted to notify parents about an initiative that will launch on The One Show this evening (Thursday, 25th June 7pm – BBC1).

‘As You Write It – Your Play on Stage’ is a national young person’s play-writing competition that has been organised by The Shakespeare North Playhouse and The One Show.

This initiative has been months in the making and is a really exciting opportunity that will allow more people to hear about the Playhouse as it continues to be built in Prescot.

Importantly, the competition is a chance to engage our children and young people in a creative activity that we hope will spark imaginations and potentially a lifelong interest in the theatre, arts and culture.

All the competition details will be shared on the programme and will be available on the BBC website after the show.

It would be wonderful if any of our children could enter – even maybe win it! Get your thinking caps on children and good luck!

  • Residential refunds - Update

    Wed 24 Jun 2020

Good afternoon. We were hoping to start refunding parents for our cancelled residential trips today. Sadly we cannot now start this until the middle to end of next week due to complications at Parentpay that we were unaware of. We will refund these just as soon as we possibly are able.

We truly apologise for this but it is completely out of our control. We thank you for your continued patience while we are sorting this.

Important Do’s and Don’ts of keeping safe in the heatwave.

    DO

    • take sensible precautions to avoid sunburn, particularly in children

    • Keep out of the sun between 11.00am and 3.00pm.

    • Apply sunscreen (minimum factor 15 with UVA protection) thirty minutes before you go out in the sun. Remember to keep reapplying sunscreen every couple of hours.

    • Ensure all children wear a hat or head covering.

    • Ensure children wear light, loose-fitting cotton clothes.

    • Ensure everyone has plenty of cold drinks to keep hydrated (avoiding caffeine and sugary drinks).

    • Ensure children avoid extreme physical exertion.

    • It is advisable to eat cold foods, particularly washed salads and fruit with a high water content.

    • Keep the environment cool by keeping windows that are exposed to the sun closed or shaded - electric fans will help too and ensure a flow of air.

    • Ensure there are shaded areas in the play areas.

    • Monitor children with health conditions

    • Ensure that children's medication is kept below 25C.

    • Take extra care when planning outdoor activities such as barbecues, which involve prolonged time spent outdoors as well as posing an additional fire risk.

    • Wear at least factor 30 sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection and remember to apply 30 minutes before going out in the sun. Reapply every couple of hours.  Always follow manufacturer's instructions

    DON’T

    • Don't jump into cold water (dams etc) to cool down. Extreme caution should be taken if entering, playing or swimming in open water.

    • Don't leave babies and young children alone especially in cars or rooms which get very warm such as conservatories.

    • DO NOT use an electric fan if anyone in the home is unwell with symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19).
