Autumn 2

We have started the term off with the Spanish version of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.

Autumn 1

Year 1 have made an amazing start to the term, and they have remembered so many of the Spanish key questions and replies that they learned last year.  They began with a game of Quiz Quiz Trade,  asking each other, 'How are you?

Throughout the term, we have been learning to read aloud the Spanish version of the story The Enormous Turnip. We focused on the repetitive words and phrases within the story,  using actions to help us remember them,  and added to the family member names that we already know.

Summer 2

Today, we have been learning the names of some more classroom objects.

Spring 2

Today, we started to learn a new song, called Todo Mi Cuerpo (all my body).  This song helped us to practise all of the parts of the body in Spanish that we have learnt so far.

This week, we have been learning the names of the rest of the parts of the body in our bath song.

This week, we listened to a new song about elephants.  We listened out for some of the adjectives that we have met in our story Dear Zoo.

This week, we practised the main Spanish nouns in our story Dear Zoo.  We played a game of Beat the Teacher and we did beat Mrs. Kimmins!

We practised saying what colour each animal is.

Today, we started to read the Spanish version of Dear Zoo.  We learnt the names of some new jungle animals.

Autumn 2

Today, we learnt a song about a little donkey in Spanish called Tingalayo.  We already know the word for donkey, and little donkey is very similar.

In the song, Tingalayo does some very strange things for a donkey!
