We are extremely proud of our close partnership with St Luke’s Church, Farnworth, and Cronton Mission Church. This special relationship strengthens our school’s Christian vision and helps us support every member of our community on their journey with God.
💒 About Cronton Mission Church
Cronton Mission Church meets in our school hall, right at the heart of Cronton village life. It is part of St Luke’s Parish, Farnworth, which dates back to the 12th century and is within the Diocese of Liverpool.
The church’s mission is simple but powerful:
To live by faith, to be known by love, and to connect people to Jesus and one another.
Its vision focuses on learning from each other, reaching out to the community, encouraging personal growth, and helping everyone feel welcome and that they belong.
🙏 Worship and Services
Worship at Cronton Mission Church is family-friendly, inclusive and joyful.
Café Worship – A relaxed service with refreshments, crafts and prayer. Held in school on the first Friday of each month and in church on the third Sunday.
Holy Communion – Led by Reverend Peter Dawkin on the fourth Sunday of each month.
JAM Club (Jesus And Me) – Fun, family worship held at both Cronton Mission and St Luke’s.
Community Services – We join other churches and the local community for special times of worship, such as Remembrance and Advent.
Cronton Mission Church is part of the East Widnes Team, working alongside St Luke’s and St Ambrose Churches.
🏫 Working Together – Church, School and Governors
Our partnership with Cronton Mission Church plays a central role in daily school life.
Lay Reader Minister, Clare Liptrott, works closely with our Worship Lead and Ethos Team to plan and lead worship in school.
She supports children’s learning in RE, including activities like doll baptisms, exploring church symbols, and learning about Christian life.
Older children (Years 5 and 6) are offered confirmation lessons, led by our church leaders.
Together, we celebrate key moments such as Harvest, Christmas, Easter, and EYFS Welcome Services, with children taking an active part in leading worship.
Children also take part in special events such as the Easter Experience and Ethos Days, deepening their understanding of faith and Christian values.
👩💼 Foundation Governors
At Cronton CE School, Foundation Governors play an essential role in preserving our school’s Christian character and make up more than half of the board . The Chair of Governors, Debbie Doyle, is an active member of Cronton Mission Church, and St Lukes PCC, and Rev’d Canon Peter Dawkin is a Foundation Governor.
Foundation Governors are appointed by Liverpool Diocesan Schools Trust following nomination by the PCC to ensure that Christian values remain at the heart of everything we do.
💬 Staying Connected
Families are warmly invited to join our church community.
There is a Cronton Mission Church WhatsApp group for news and support – contact Debbie Doyle (Service Coordinator) via the school office if you’d like to be added.
The partnership working of church and school is communicated through the school newsletter, PCC meetings and parish magazine.
Together, our school and church aim to make sure that Jesus is at the heart of everything we do – in our learning, worship and community life.
