Proposed Admissions Arrangements 2027-28

Summary
This consultation notice outlines the proposed amendments to the ordering of the over subscription criteria for Cronton CE Primary Academy. Amendments have been highlighted.
The proposal has been developed in response to a number of local and national factors and is intended to support the long-term sustainability and development of the school. Falling birth rates and new residential developments could potentially result in changes to pupil numbers, and the proposal would allow the school to respond proactively to these demographic changes.
The proposal also supports the Department for Education’s Giving Every Child the Best Start in Life strategy by strengthening early years provision and providing children with access to high-quality education and support from the earliest opportunity. Developing provision in this way would support children’s transition into school and provide greater continuity throughout their early education.
As a Church school, the proposal would also provide an opportunity to support growth within the Church community. It would strengthen the school’s role at the heart of the local community, enabling it to welcome and support more children and families while continuing to promote its Christian ethos and values.
Importantly, the proposal would help to keep families together within one school community, providing opportunities for siblings to access the same school and offer continuity for families.

If your child is due to start school in September 2026 you will need to read our policy and complete the application form for the authority in which you live. Don't forget to submit any supplementary forms directly to the school. The closing date for applications is 15th January 2025

APPEALS TIMETABLE
For September 2025 entry (Primary)
Cronton Church of England Primary School follows Knowsley's Appeals Timetable.
Appeals resulting from the year of entry for admission in September 2023 will be heard according to the following timetable:-

Appeals lodged after these dates will be heard within 40 school days of the appeal deadline where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
All appellants will be sent notification of their appeal hearing at least 10 clear school days in advance of the hearing.
All appellants will be sent a copy of the school’s case a reasonable time before the date of the hearing.
If any appellant wishes to submit additional evidence which was not included with their initial appeal, they must make sure that it is received within a reasonable time prior to the hearing date (normally three working days). Any additional evidence or information received too late may not be able to be considered at the appeal hearing. The appeal panel must decide whether it should be considered taking into account its significance and the effect of a possible need to adjourn the hearing.

Appeals resulting from in-year admission applications will be heard on a date to be arranged within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged with the Authority.
