Welcome to the Reception Spanish blog for 2025 - 2026.  The children have made a great start this half term by learning how to say different weather types in Spanish.  We used actions and songs to help us remember them.

Today, we started to learn a new song in Spanish.  First, we learned how to say each member of the shark family.

Today, we read a story in Spanish about a monster who ate too much fruit.

     My name is Yum Yum. 

                I'm hungry!                                  Yum Yum eats 1 pear.                 Yum Yum eats 2 bananas.

This week, we have been learning to say some different colours so that we can describe our fruit.  We practised them with the colour fans.

Today in Reception, we have been learning a song about fruit.  Some of the Spanish fruit names are exactly the same  as English ones.

Some fruit names are almost the same.

And some are completely different.

Then we practised the colours, using the colour fans.

This week in Reception, we have started to learn a new song about washing in the bath.  First, we had to learn the names of some new parts of the body.

This week, we learnt a song about a little donkey called Tingalayo.  We already know the word for donkey, and little donkey is very similar.

In the song, Tingalayo does some very strange things for a donkey!

Today we sang an action song in Spanish, called Camina con Cosmo (Walk with Cosmo).

We listened to a song about a cloud.  We closed our eyes and listened to all the different Spanish words.

We listened to a song about the rain, and counted the raindrops.
