Homework

Homework expectations in Year 1

Homework will be posted to Seesaw on a Friday and should be completed on Seesaw by the following Friday where it will be marked. If you have any issues with accessing Seesaw or need another login, then please get in touch with the school.

Spellings will be posted on Seesaw on a Friday . The spelling test will take place on a he next Friday.

Reading record books should be brought daily . We would expect the children to read at least 5 times a week.  Books will be changed on Monday and Thursday .

At Cronton CE Primary School we are very keen for parents to support and help their children with homework. We take the view that children are likely to get more out of an activity if parents get involved as long as they do not take over too much. However, there are times when we will want to see what children can do on their own. It is particularly important, as they get older, for children to become increasingly independent in their learning. If a parent is unsure about what their role should be, they should discuss it with their child's teacher.

Please feel free to record how your child did on the homework; whether they needed help or not, as this will help me.

Parents/Carers who have queries about homework should not hesitate to contact me. If you have an urgent query, it is best that you contact the school office or home school book rather than use Seesaw,  as this may not be checked daily.

Holidays

During the school holidays no formal homework will be set, although children will still be encouraged to read with an adult regularly.

It is not possible to give homework when parents take holidays in term time.

We will  place KEYS sheets for our Foundation topics on Seesaw. This will help inform you of what we are learning about in school. Here are some ideas of how you can use the KEYS sheets to enhance learning at home.
